One in 8 Million

Check out this awesome story collection on the NY Times website titled "One in 8 Million" about various "characters" of NYC.
I've already watched "The Regular" and "The Walker" and they're really great. There's a voiceover from the person who was interviewed, explaining their place in New York, their personal New York experience, accompanied by a montage of black and white photographs of them going about their business. Really interesting to hear and see so many different perspectives on my hometown.

Steak Frites

I cannot WAIT to go eat the delicious steak frites at the brand new Manhattan branch of Paris restaurant Le Relais de l'Entrecôte when I get back east. Reading an article about good steak frites, the description rang a bell...I realized I had finally discovered the name of the place my mother took me on my first visit to Paris when I was 11 years old. I always remembered how delicious it was...now I can have it again, in my own city :)

Lomo's Russian Winter in New York

Last week I went to a workshop kinda thing at the new Lomography shop in Manhattan. There were loaner Diana+ cameras (though I had my own with me of course!) and free rolls of 120 film for all. We went walkabout in lower Manhattan and took some pictures, including experimenting with the Diana's pinhole setting, as in my picture above. More on my flickr. If you're interested in future events, you can get on the mailing list at the Lomography website.
