Zef rap-rave master NINJA

And beat monster, DJ HI-TEK
DIE ANTWOORD represents the sounds of the Zuid Afrikaanse streets. Their fierce, hi-energy sound is inspired by Cape Town's fast and furious mini-bus taxi's you can hear coming from blocks away with an evil

Check out their website for more, including "20 fun facts" and a hilarious slideshow as the background.
Ninja has a tattoo on his neck that says "pretty wise," one on his chest that says "how can an angel break my heart," and one on his side that says "A woman is more dangerous than a loaded pistol." And then there's Richie Rich on his pec. Oh, and Caspar with a huge boner on his shoulder. Wow.
Check out this video and the extreme close-up shot of Ninja hip thrusting in Pink Floyd boxers. Genius.

Beard Waivers

Apparently at BYU (Brigham Young University in Utah) you have to get a "beard waiver" to grow a beard.
Um. Hilarious?
Is it because they don't want students and faculty competing with founder Brigham Young's crazy-ass beard?

Puppy Tweets

"Mattel's Puppy Tweets is a dog tag that you put on your actual dog; the tag then senses the pooch's activity levels, barking, and the like and sends any of a set of pre-set tweets to its own Twitter feed. Amazingly enough, all dogs type in English."
Ok so usually I find all things twitter related pretty ridiculous, but is it bad that I kind of want to try this?
Check out some other crazy gadgets at Popular Science's article on the Top 10 from the NY Toy Fair, including a pogo stick that jumps several feet in the air (you can do a flip on it! check out their video highlight reel for that...it would scare the crap out of me), electronic scrabble tiles that are kinda like a mix between scrabble and text twist, and waterproof playing cards.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

=Best Karaoke Song EVER.

Aquaponics

Check out this article from the New York Times about aquaponic gardens.
Aquaponics is a combination of hydroponics and aquaculture that uses 80-90% less water than traditional growing methods (as you can imagine this is of particular interest to drought-prone places such as Australia) and produces a far greater yield. One of the gardeners interviewed in the article had a harvest of 347 cherry tomatoes from one plant, and 175 cucumbers from three plants. Yowza! Plus they get to have fishies, which can be yummy edible ones like tilapia or trout or pretty ones like giant goldfish. If I ever have enough space, I want to give this a whirl! Imagine having fresh herbs year-round and piles of fresh veggies whenever you want. Mmm.

My 10 Most Played in Words

Inspired by Flavorwire, I took the lyrics from my top 10 most played songs in iTunes (minus my actual top 5, which are non-vocal tracks from the Streets of Rage soundtrack that I like to run to...haha) and made word clouds with Wordle. My top 3 songs are all Jackson 5 :) The rest are kinda influenced by my running soundtrack, but ah well. Enjoy...and try making your own!
Wordle: I Want You Back
Wordle: Dancing Machine
Wordle: The Love You Save
Wordle: You'll Find A Way
Wordle: Play Your Part (Part 1)
Wordle: Run
Wordle: Together For One Last Dance
Wordle: Love Rollercoaster
Wordle: Fancy Footwork
Wordle: Paper Planes
Wordle: Electric Feel

PS. This video is amazing:

Pop Song Word Clouds

Using Wordle, the geniuses over at Flavorwire created word clouds for iTunes' 12 top-selling songs of all time. They write: "If you’ve ever bemoaned the state of modern commercial music, the inanity of looking at these consolidated lyrics will do nothing to ease your pain. But it is kind of funny." Haha, I agree.
Can you guess which songs these word clouds belong to?

See them all here.

Andy Warhol on YouTube

I saw this video on another blog...

(including another gem of a Braniff Air commercial with Dalí...)
And it led me to a multitude of Andy Warhol youtube videos:

I think my favorite is the TDK ad...and the Dalí screen test.
Did you know Andy Warhol had three television shows?
"- Andy Warhol's Fashion (ca. 1980)
- Andy Warhol's TV (ca 19981)
- Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes (1987)
ANDY WARHOL'S FASHION was shown on Manhattan Cable, Andy Warhol's TV was shown on the the Madison Square Garden Network and Andy Warhol's Fifteen Minutes was shown on MTV."
from Zamboni, where you can watch and even download some episodes.
Also, couldn't resist posting this Duchamp interview found during the Andy Warhol-athon:
